This position is located in the Archives and Records Section of the Registry of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, Arusha Branch. Under the supervision of the OiC, MARS Arusha, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the work of the Archivists in the management of the records and archives managed by the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals.
Responsibilities
Support the implementation and administration of information technology and management tools in the development and implementation of recordkeeping improvement projects.
Assist in the administration of any information technology-based systems to maintain the Section’s repositories in good order.
Undertake tasks related to the accessioning, arrangement and description, storage, preservation and conservation, and accessibility of the archives and records managed by MARS Arusha.
Assist in the development and implementation of the EDRMS in Mechanism Offices.
Provide records storage and retrieval services for client offices.
Arrange transfers of digital records from Mechanism offices shared network drives to the EDRMS.
Process consignments of transferred records, ensuring that they meet required standards and are stored securely, under the direction of the archivists.
Maintain records of records transfers.
Retrieve/return/update records on request of client offices.
Assist client offices with complex searches for records.
Implement Records Retention Schedules and other disposition instructions.
Qualification
Technical or vocational certificates or training in archives and records management, information science, information systems or a related field is desirable.
Work Experience
A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in archives management, records management, information management, information science, information systems or related areas is required. Experience of Electronic Document and Record Management Systems (EDRMS) is desirable . Experience of digital preservation systems and digital repositories is desirable. Experience in working with records in both physical and digital format is desirable. Experience of strict information security regimes is desirable. Working experience in UN International Criminal Tribunals is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the Mechanism. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. NOTE: Fluency equals a rating of "fluent" in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and "knowledge of" equals a rating of "confident" in two of the four areas.
